Demonisation refers to the portrayal of something or someone as entirely wicked, evil, and without any redeeming qualities. It is often used to simplify complex issues or to justify opposition to a particular group, idea, or movement.
Populism refers to a political approach that seeks to appeal directly to ordinary people who feel that their concerns are ignored by established elites, institutions, or experts. Populist leaders often present themselves as the voice of “the people” against “the elite,” and their rhetoric tends to divide society into two opposing groups — the pure, ordinary citizens and the corrupt, powerful few.
